Uploading Your Website Content

Once your website has been created, you can upload your content. We offer two primary methods: the web-based File Manager (recommended for its powerful features) and standard FTP for traditional workflows.

Method 1: Using the File Manager (Recommended)

The File Manager is the most versatile method for uploading your site. It runs directly in your browser and supports uploading entire folder structures or compressed archives from your computer or a URL.

To begin, navigate to the Websites section, click on your website's name, and then select the File manager tab. From there, choose one of the following options.

Option A: Uploading Files and Folders from Your Computer

This is the best option for uploading your project directly from your computer without zipping it first. The File Manager will recursively upload all contents while preserving the original folder structure.

  1. In the File Manager toolbar, click the Upload icon.
  2. A dialog box will appear. You can drag and drop your website's files and folders directly into this box, or click to browse and select them.

Option B: Uploading and Extracting an Archive File

If your website is already compressed into a single archive file, this is the most efficient way to transfer it. The system will upload the archive and automatically extract its contents.

  1. In the File Manager toolbar, click the Upload archive icon.
  2. Browse for the archive file on your local computer and start the upload.
  3. We support multiple archive formats, including: .zip, .rar, .7z, .tar, .gz, .tgz, .bz2, and more.

Important: Some archive formats (especially .zip) may not correctly handle filenames containing non-English characters. Before creating your archive, we recommend naming all files and folders using standard English characters to prevent errors during extraction. The content inside the files can be in any language.

Option C: Uploading an Archive from a URL

This advanced option allows you to transfer an archive directly from another server without needing to download it to your computer first.

  1. In the File Manager toolbar, click the Upload archive from URL icon (the one with the link symbol).
  2. In the dialog box, paste the direct public URL to the archive file and confirm.
  3. The server will download and extract the file for you.

Method 2: Using FTP

You can also upload files using any standard FTP client, such as FileZilla, WinSCP, or Cyberduck.

Finding Your FTP Credentials

  1. Navigate to the Websites section in the left menu and click on your website's name.
  2. On the Summary page, locate the FTP card.
  3. This card contains the FTP server address (host), your username, and your password.

Connecting and Uploading

  • Use the provided credentials to connect with your FTP client. We recommend using Passive (PASV) mode for the most reliable connection.
  • IMPORTANT: After connecting, you will be in your root FTP directory. Do not upload files here. You must first navigate into the folder that matches your website's name (e.g., www.sitename.somee.com). This is the correct public root directory for your website files.
