Delete Virtual Server
Navigate to: Main Menu > Virtual servers > Select a server > Click the Delete tab.
This tool permanently destroys the specific virtual machine instance you are currently viewing.
Crucial Distinction: Deletion vs. Cancellation
Deleting a server is NOT the same as cancelling your subscription.
- Billing Continues: Your hosting plan remains active and paid for. Deleting the server simply empties the "slot," moving your plan back to the Available virtual server packages list.
- Re-use: After deletion, you can use the empty package to create a brand new server. This is the correct method if you wish to "move" your server to a different data center location (by deleting the current one and creating a new one elsewhere).
Warnings
- Total Data Loss: All data on the hard drive will be irretrievably lost.
- Configuration Loss: Any associated DNS records and SSL certificates specific to this machine will be removed.
Alternatives
- If you simply want to fix a broken operating system, use the Re-image option in the Recovery tab instead.
- If you want to stop paying for the service entirely, go to the Subscriptions page to cancel the contract.
